The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child's first dental visit by age one, or within six months of their first tooth coming in. The earlier we see your child, the better we can support healthy development, and the less likely they are to need intervention later.
Yes, and this is where we're genuinely different from most offices. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation (Valium), and full in-office IV sedation under the care of a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist. We also see children with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other special needs, with 25+ years of dedicated experience in those cases. If you're not sure what level of support your child needs, call us first, and we'll talk through it.
Yes. We see children from birth. If your newborn has a tongue or lip tie that's affecting breastfeeding, we can perform a laser frenectomy. We also perform initial dental evaluations for infants as early as needed.
Three: nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation using Valium, and in-office IV sedation. Our IV sedation is administered under the supervision of a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist — not a general anesthesiologist, not a CRNA. That level of specialization is rare in a pediatric dental office and makes a meaningful difference for complex or high-anxiety cases.

Your child will meet our dental assistant, get a tour of the tools before anything happens, and choose their own toothpaste and fluoride flavor. Dr. Pettinato does a full exam, and if X-rays are needed, we use low-radiation digital systems. If there's a cavity, we show it to you on our intraoral camera — no guessing. If there's no cavity, your child gets a certificate. Either way, they get a token for the toy tower.
